Where did the Alabama Crimson Tide land in the new AP Poll after a big win over Kentucky?
The Alabama Crimson Tide came away with a massive win in Week 2 of the college football season, taking down the Kentucky Wildcats 45-17.
While the final score shows a blowout win, the game was much closer, at least in the first half of the game. Alabama actually was trailing coming out of halftime, losing 17-14.
But in the second half of the game, the Crimson Tide took over, leading to the dominant win. Alabama didn't give up a single point in the second half, giving them a solid road win in SEC play.
After the win, the Crimson Tide moved up in the AP Poll, showing a belief in them from the voters. Alabama now sits at No. 10 in the AP Poll coming into Week 3 following the Kentucky win.
While the victory gave the Crimson Tide some hope, quarterback Keelon Russell will need to play better going forward. Russell, making his second career start, threw for 188 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
It was a tough game all around for the Alabama quarterback, but thankfully for him, the team was able to get the win. But moving forward, Russell is going to have to put together a more solid performance; otherwise, Alabama could be in some trouble.
But the struggles from Russell can be a learning lesson for him, and each start, he gets more needed reps at the college level. Alabama will move forward with Russell as the starter, having full belief in their guy.
The coaching staff will work with Russell, trying to correct the mistakes from the Kentucky game. This group will try to place the signal-caller into more favoriable situations, giving him more confidence with each start.
As the schedule gets tougher for the Crimson Tide, Russell will be counted on to do more, having the game placed on his shoulders. But for now, Alabama will take the win, looking forward to the next challenge ahead of them.
Alabama will be hosting the Florida State Seminoles this coming weekend as they try to move to 3-0 on the new season. Florida State embarrassed the Crimson Tide to open the year last season, so this game could be some payback for Alabama in front of their home fans.
The Seminoles come in with a record of 1-1 on the new season, losing in their last game. Kickoff for this contest will take place at 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET from Bryant-Denny Stadium.
