From NFL legends and a game show icon to a projected NBA superstar, these five famous alumni could electrify Provo for the Cougars' historic Saturday morning spotlight.
The college football world will be tuned into Provo this weekend ahead of the top 10 contests between the BYU Cougars and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Before the teams take the field for one of the most anticipated non-conference matchups this season, ESPN will be outside LaVell Edwards Stadium for College GameDay. The pregame show will be live from Provo for the first time in 17 years. It's hard to believe that it's been that long, but we're ready to have this become more than just a rare occurrence.
The most pressing question is who will be BYU’s guest picker? There are a few outstanding options. Yet again, there are five notable celebrities with BYU ties who would be a treat for fans.
Two former football players, two former basketball greats and one game show host who would bring great vibes to the set. Here are five people ESPN should be considering for Saturday.

This one is a no-brainer. The longtime ESPN NFL host is no stranger to the network. As a BYU legend, Young also brings quite a crowd wherever he goes. His football expertise would bring another aspect to the show. With Bear Bachmeier doing his thing for the Cougars, having Young back on campus would be great to see.

Is it too soon for a homecoming? The top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft has an outstanding personality and knows how to be entertaining. This could be a huge selling point for him as he enters his rookie season with the Washington Wizards. Dybantsa is currently enrolled in classes at BYU and could become one of the first full-time student guest pickers in College GameDay history. In any regard, this would be a cool experience for him with the Cougars' fans.
Jimmer Fredette
This would be a great way to "Pump up the crowd" in Provo. Fredette being on hand and dropping some knowledge about football would be something worth watching. The USA basketball executive has been rumored to be going back to Olympic play. This would be a great stage to announce he's heading back into 3-on-3 competition.
Ken Jennings
The Jeopardy host would be a slam dunk option for the ESPN broadcast. He could literally take over a segment in place of Rece Davis and it would be television gold. What would be even better than having him as a guest picker would be hosting a Jeopardy segment with three contestants, and the winner would get to participate in Pat McAfee's "kicking is easy" competition. Jennings is very knowledgeable about sports and would be a great pick.

No introduction needed for this one. Outside of Young, Reid would be the other former BYU football player to have at the desk as a guest picker. The punter and quarterback made a name for himself in Provo before becoming one of the NFL's most recognizable coaches. Obviously, the Chiefs aren't on a bye week. However, Ryan Smith could gas up the jet to bring Reid to Provo and back to Kansas City before the team does a final walk-through on Saturday.
