Fresh off a bye week, the undefeated Cougars storm Texas seeking a historic milestone and their first road victory against a struggling Horned Frogs squad since 2006.
The tenth ranked BYU Cougars football team is looking to start the season 4-0 this weekend at TCU. They're also chasing history in the process.
If Kalani Sitake's team is able to take care of business in Fort Worth, it will be the first time in program history they've started out with four consecutive wins each of the past three years. The Cougars are fresh off a bye week and ready to for one of the most difficult parts of the schedule, which includes an October 17th date against No. 3 Notre Dame.
BYU didn't play last week, but they're not concerned about any type of letdown against the Horned Frogs. Sitake's team is disciplined and coming off a 41-23 road win over former Mountain West rival Colorado State.
BYU QB Bear Bachmeier continues to lead his team. He threw for 227 yards against the Rams, but failed to throw a touchdown. However, LJ Martin recorded a season-best 176 rushing yards with 3 touchdowns on just 15 carries. He looks to shatter the mark he set last year at 1,305 yards while winning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. Martin has pushed himself forward once again as a Doak Walker award candidate. If he plays every game like he did against Colorado State, there's no reason why he shouldn't be named a finalist.
As for TCU, the season has been lackluster thus far. After losing to Bill Belichick and the UNC Tar Heels to open the season in Ireland, Sonny Dykes' team couldn't afford the 21-13 road loss to UCF last week. At 2-2, facing the 10th ranked team in the country, couldn't have come at a worse time.
Dikes admitted his team was a little shaken after week one against North Carolina. There is still room for progress if he's still looking at this as a glass-half-full situation.
TCU QB Jaden Craig has shown flashes of greatness this season. But he's still relatively inconsistent. The Harvard transfer currently has three consecutive 300-yard games with a total of 1,213 yards. One of the biggest things he'll need to work on in the coming weeks is his touchdown to interception ratio. Craig currently, has seven touchdowns and three interceptions.
