The BYU football season is set to kick off in less than a month. While the Cougars are in the midst of fall practices and final strategies are being implemented, it’s also a good time to check in on former BYU players in the NFL. Some are rookies, but the full list will include veterans as well.
It’s safe to assume names like LA Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner are safe in their respective NFL roles. This means they'll likely not play much. While names like Kedon Slovis and Tyler Batty’s future role on the depth chart has not fully been determined.
The NFL preaseason Week 1 runs between August 13 and August 19. In that stretch, there will be eleven games that will provide opportunities to watch 15 former Cougars. Each player should see a varying degree of snaps.

For the 2026 NFL season, all 32 teams will be trimming their training camp roster from 90 players to the final 53 on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. ET. This is a shift from the Tuesday deadlines used in previous years. The final NFL preseason games will be the night before on August 29th.
