Is Clemson Tigers quarterback Christopher Vizzina the most disrespected player in the country?
It's hard to believe that Clemson Tigers quarterback Christopher Vizzina was once a four-star recruit touted as the heir to Cade Klubnik.
Vizzina arrived at Clemson in 2023 and served as a backup to Klubnik in each of his first three seasons, watching as Klubnik turned himself into an eventual NFL quarterback.
The Birmingham, Al. native actually got the chance to make one start last year, going 29-for-42 with 313 yards and three touchdowns in a loss to SMU. Did Vizzina wow anybody with his throws? No, but no one can deny that he looked solid.
Now, Vizzina has had an entire offseason to prepare for the starting role, and it's looking and more like the 6-foot-4 signal-caller will be under center when the Tigers open their season against LSU on Sept. 5.
Tait Reynolds made things interesting for a bit there, but it seems like Vizzina has gained more than enough separation in fall camp.
Nevertheless, just about every pundit you ask is more than unsure about Vizzina, questioning whether or not he is actually a legitimate starting quarterback for Clemson.

After all, you never know how good a player will be until they actually get the opportunity to show it. But when it comes to Vizzina, it also seems as if people are sneering at the mere thought of him leading the Tigers to a strong campaign.
The disrespect has reached obnoxious levels, so much so that we had people complaining that Clemson was ranked 23rd in the Coaches Poll. The AP Poll then had them just outside the top 25.
While many are questioning Dabo Swinney's program in general right now, much of the ire is directed at Vizzina, who hasn't done anything to not make people think he is prepared for the task.
And if we're being honest, Vizzina has just about all of the traits you would want out of a top-flight quarterback: good size, impressive arm strength, functional athleticism and solid processing speed.
Vizzina also has a terrific set of weapons at his disposal, led by junior wide receivers T.J. Moore and Bryant Wesco. He also has three four-star freshmen receivers in Naeem Burroughs, Gordon Sellars and Connor Salmin. We also shouldn't forget running backs Gideon Davis and Chris Johnson Jr., the latter of whom is particularly explosive.
If there is any player on Clemson with a chip on his shoulder entering 2026, it's Vizzina, who has a whole lot of doubters to prove wrong.
