The Clemson Tigers were given a telling prediction on upsetting Miami this weekend.
After a disappointing Week 1 performance against LSU on the road, many people wrote off the Clemson Tigers for the 2026 season.
But over the last few weeks, the Tigers have climbed back to relevance, winning three straight games in the process. This includes a few impressive wins over North Carolina and California, giving Clemson a record of 3-1.
However, the Tigers are now heading into the toughest matchup on their schedule, with the team hosting the No. 4 ranked Miami Hurricanes. Clemson will be looking to upset the Hurricanes, grabbing a statement win in the ACC.
But this won't be easy, and Miami is one of the best teams in the country for a reason. Clemson will need to put together a complete team effort if they want to grab the win, but it will be much easier said than done.
Entering the game, ESPN isn't giving the Tigers much of a chance to take down the Hurricanes, even with the matchup being at home. Clemson has been given a 12.6 percent chance to upset this top-ranked Miami team.
For the Tigers to have any chance to win, the defense is going to have to figure out how to stop Miami quarterback Darian Mensah. Mensah has been tearing up college football this season, throwing for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns so far, without any interceptions.
Clemson will need to pressure Mensah throughout the game, with the hope of getting him off his game. But no team has been able to knock him off his game so far, leading to multiple blowout wins for the Hurricanes.
Tigers quarterback Tait Reynolds is going to have to find a way to match Mensah for his team to get the win. So far this year, Reynolds has thrown for 521 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
If he can put together a strong showing against this tough Miami defense, Clemson would at least have a chance to pull off the upset. Reynolds will need to push the ball down the field, but he has struggled with this so far this year.
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney will try to have his players ready to go for the game, and being at home should help a little. But the talent difference between the two teams is telling, and Clemson could have some trouble this weekend.
However, stranger things have happened at the college level, and on any given day, any team can get a win. Swinney and company will hope for the best, looking to earn a massive win for the 2026 season.
