The five-star tackle trades Boulder for Baton Rouge, reunited with trusted coaches to chase a national title and solidify his NFL draft stock within Lane Kiffin’s powerhouse roster.
When Jordan Seaton committed to the Colorado Buffaloes back in 2024, he made history as the first top-rated five-star offensive lineman to be Boulder bound. Two years later, the future NFL prospect makes a transition to the LSU Tigers as part of Lane Kiffin's first roster in Baton Rouge.
So far, Seaton has redefined himself with Kiffin and his staff. Just months into the process and he's already looking more athletic and carrying himself with more confidence.
“My decision to come here was just based off of it just means more (at LSU),” Seaton said on March 26. While this wasn't directed at Deion Sanders or his staff, anyone reading between the lines knows he's right at home at LSU. Seaton recently held a football camp outside of Baton Rouge and explained his experience at LSU so far.
"Just being able to compete every day with my brothers, build a new brotherhood, and ultimately just get the grind, get the grind in with my guy," Seaton told WAFB's Jacques Doucet. He went on to say, "I think LSU speaks for itself," Seaton said. "I don't think we got to go through all the comparisons and all the "what makes them better" (or) "what makes this better." I think LSU is LSU. And LSU is always going to be LSU."
Seaton was one of Kiffin's biggest commitments during his transfer portal process. The Oregon Ducks were also in the running for his service and loaded up a pretty heavy punch to try to sway the former IMG Academy star to be in Eugene. In the end, the Tigers coaching staff played the role as being a difference maker.
"(Kiffin) played a big factor, but not only Lane Kiffin, my O-line coach, Eric Wolford," Seaton admitted. "Wolf and I go back years and years and years. I feel like, for me, it was a no-brainer going back to a guy that not only I know that he knows his stuff, but I trust."
Seaton went from Sanders to Kiffin and hasn't looked back. Some have criticized his decision as nothing more than bending to the highest bidder. However, making the jump when he did give him a better shot at winning a national championship before eventually making the jump to the NFL. Seaton has built himself for this moment and is grateful Sanders was part of his development.
"I was blessed enough to be able to go to Colorado and be given that chance by coach Sanders and play with Shedeur (Sanders), play with Travis (Hunter), LaJohntay Wester, all my older teammates, Jimmy (Horn) and them," Seaton said. "But this is the next chapter in my life. I'm here at LSU now, and I'm with Sam Leavitt. I'm with a bunch of my guys now, so I'm going to go to war with them and, like I said, we're grinding right now."
Seaton and the Tigers open the 2026 season at home against Clemson. Two weeks before, Kiffin takes his team to Oxford, Miss. for a "homecoming" against Ole Miss. We'll know early whether Seaton boosted his draft stock at LSU or would have benefited more from staying at Colorado.
