Brennan Marion weighs in on the Julian Lewis versus Isaac Wilson battle as the Buffaloes seek a definitive leader to ignite their Go-Go offense for the 2026 season.

Deion Sanders and six Colorado Buffaloes players will represent the team at Big 12 Football Media Days this week. The event at Coach Prime's old stomping grounds at The Star in Frisco, Texas, will mark the start of his fourth season in Boulder.

After a disappointing 3-9 finish to end the 2025 season, Sanders made another round of changes between the roster and his staff. This will be another year with mostly transfers at starting positions. Brennan Marion takes over as offensive coordinator with his Go-Go offense locked and loaded. New defensive coordinator Chris Marve takes over for Robert Livingston, who rode the roller coaster during his short tenure under Sanders.

Colorado is bringing quarterback Julian Lewis to Frisco, along with wide receiver Danny Scudero, tight end Zach Atkins, cornerback Cree Thomas and safeties Ben Finneseth and Naeten Mitchell. A nice mix of returning players and transfers.

One of the biggest storylines that will come up this week is how Lewis has progressed in his second year. Some have speculated if he'll be the starter come Week 1 against Georgia Tech. Obviously, he's heading to Media Day because he's viewed as a potential starter. Utah transfer Isaac Wilson has looked solid, but Marion still appears to favor Lewis. He recently told TMR that Wilson "understands the big play element..but has to learn how to hit the base [plays] a little bit more."

Lewis, a former five-star recruit out of Carrollton, Georgia, got the starting nod at the end of last season. This should be his biggest growth year after being thrown into the fire. Colorado juggled all three quarterbacks in 2025, which is not likely on the table this year. Sanders and Marion are likely to agree on having a clear-cut starter in place before the season.

“I think the entire team is benefiting” from lessons learned last year and new faces arriving this spring, Sanders recently told the Associated Press about the upcoming season. “I have the best coaching staff I’ve ever featured. Everybody’s unified. I just walked out of the weight room. They’re lifting their butts off, and they can’t wait to go to camp. It’s going to be phenomenal.”

Colorado's opener in Atlanta against Georgia Tech will be a huge test for Lewis right off the bat. He'll be near his hometown with a lot of familiar faces ready to cheer him on. Will he be able to rise above the pressure and turn some heads in the process?
