The Duke Blue Devils once again earned a top-five ranking in a way-too-early preseason college basketball poll by On3.

After a disappointing ending to the 2025-26 college basketball season, the Duke Blue Devils will once again enter this season with high expectations.

Jon Scheyer will welcome back some key players, including Cayden Boozer, Dame Sarr, Caleb Foster, and Patrick Ngongba, while also welcoming in another top recruiting class for the 2026 class.

Duke should and will be considered one of the top preseason polls as they hope to get over the hump under Scheyer. As we are still months away from the start of the new season, it's never too early to look at some of the polls.

And the latest one from On3 has the Blue Devils right near the top, to no one's surprise.

Duke Blue Devils earn top five ranking by On3

As we mentioned above, the season is still a long ways away and the transfer portal and recruiting cycle are still going on. Duke has made a few additions so far which should turn out to be good for the roster.

On Wednesday, On3's Thomas Goldkamp put out his updated version of his way-too-early top 25, and you don't have to look far to find Duke.

The Blue Devils check in at No. 2 overall, behind only Florida in the rankings. Here is what Goldkamp had to say about the Blue Devils:

Like Florida, Duke is getting a healthy chunk of its roster back, though Cameron Boozer and Isaiah Evans are moving on to the NBA Draft. Still, the return of Caleb Foster and Patrick Ngongba gives the Blue Devils a strong core to work with.

Add elite Wisconsin scorer John Blackwell and Duke once again has the goods to get it done. Cameron Williams is one of the top incoming prospects in the country.

There's plenty to like about Duke's 2026-27 roster and they may not be done adding just yet. The Blue Devils will once again be a team to watch out for this upcoming season not only looking to win another Atlantic Coast Conference title but also getting a No. 1 seed.

Other ACC teams in the poll include No. 11 Virginia, No. 14 Louisville, No. 20 Miami and No. 23 North Carolina.
