Duke fans debate Cayden Boozer's return, fueling hopes for redemption and championship dreams alongside cheers for a potential revenge season.
The Duke Blue Devils landed a powerful tandem of brothers before the 2025-26 season.
After Cooper Flagg left the program to become the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, the additions of Cayden Boozer and Cameron Boozer brought the team hype for another Final Four run.
The Blue Devils didn't make it that far, losing to UConn in the Elite Eight as the No. 1 overall seed in the the NCAA Tournament. Cayden made an unfortunate turnover at the end of the contest that helped the Huskies walk away with the win.
Cameron is off to the 2026 NBA Draft where he is expected to be one of the top selections.
On Thursday, Duke revealed Cayden will return to play for the team in the 2026-27 team.
Fans on social media had strong reactions to the news Cayden would return to try and help lead Duke back to the Final Four. Reactions were mixed, with some excited that he's returning.
Other fans are worried that he's overhyped.
"Yk what good for him looking for revenge, basically a guarantee we get a UConn vs Duke non con game especially if Nik goes to UConn and Mullins comes back," wrote a fan.
"One bad play made everyone in these comments forget how good he was during the tournaments. Redemption year, Mr. Boozer," posted another.
"BMC@KingBMCIIIOh great so now i gotta watch the guy who ruined/ended Duke's season for another year & be reminded of what he did every time i see him play," suggested a poster.
'Duke hype machine strikes again. Kid’s name got him the jersey, not his game. Turnover magnet, mediocre PG, and proof that the Blue Devils sell hype, not talent. UNC jab was the only highlight," wrote a fan.
"Wait until yall hear Cameron Boozer 12 is coming back. The Boozer's have unfinished business. Won titles at every level and still need to match Carlos Boozers NCAA title," hopes another.
"Cayden Boozer staying at Duke instead of the draft is peak comedy," argued a poster.
"Nepo baby averaging 7 PPG as a freshman needs ‘more development’ but the NIL bag is calling. Real ones go pro, scrubs stay in college forever. Duke just paid for another year of mid."
