The Duke Blue Devils Basketball program will get an official visit from a top international prospect.
The Duke Blue Devils are preparing for the start of the 2026-27 college basketball season as another highly anticipated season is underway. For Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils, they are hoping to not only make it to the Final Four but also win a national championship.
Duke's roster should be really good again as they welcome in the top recruiting class, a good transfer portal class and some key players back from last year's team. This is arguably Duke's best roster in the Scheyer era as their depth can go 10 deep.
But before they start the new season, the Blue Devils have received some excellent recruiting news.
This past week, Asa Montgomery committed to the Blue Devils, giving Scheyer and his staff a big five-star commitment. They now have three players committed in the 2027 class as he joins Kager Knueppel and Australian guard Luke Paul. Now, Duke could be looking to add another player to the class as they are going with the international route again.
Per Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, Serbian wing Matija Lukic is set to visit seven different schools on a trip here from overseas. He will visit Duke, North Carolina, Boston College, BYU, NC State, UConn and Utah. The visits will begin Nov. 1 and he will take seven official visits in a span of eight days. There ared no official dates for each school but with trips planned to Duke, UNC and NC State, he can knock those out likely in two days if he wishes.
All three of those schools are playing games next week, including on Monday night. Duke then plays on Thursday night, giving him a chance to see the game-day atmosphere if he wants to.
The 2027 prospect is just 17 years old and is listed at 6-foot-7 by FIBA. In seven games for Serbia at the U17 World Cup this past Summer, he averaged 16.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in seven games. He also shot 50 percent from the field and showed off his perimeter shooting, making 41.9 percent of his three-point attempts. His hot shooting will be intriguing for a lot of programs that are in pursuit.
For this trip, his Spanish club, Casademont Zaragoza, mentioned that the 10-day trip is included in his contract as he gets to check out other schools here.
Duke could take on one or two more players in the 2027 class and Lukic is a very intriguing prospect.
