The Duke Blue Devils brought in the No. 1 overall recruiting class for the 2026 cycle, landing some top prospects. Since taking over for Coach K, Jon Scheyer has done a great job on the recruiting trail, landing some of the best prospects each year.

This year's class doesn't have a Cooper Flagg or a Cameron Boozer in terms of the top overall recruit and a potential National Player of the Year candidate. It's still a very good class that should contribute right away.

With the 2026 class wrapped up, the attention has turned to the 2027 and 2028 classes now. Scheyer and his staff have built their recruiting boards and in 2028, they have their eyes on five-star small forward Colton Hiller.

The Coatesville, Pennsylvania native is one of the best players in the 2028 class and is drawing a lot of attention from teams early on in his recruitment. One of those teams is Duke and on Monday, Hiller was expected on campus.

Per Joe Tipton, Hiller is taking an official visit to Duke on Monday. Hiller has taken just one other official visit this Summer and Fall, going to Florida back on September 5th. While he has 26 offers in his recruitment, it's believed that this could be a two-team race between the Blue Devils and Gators.

Duke offered Hiller a scholarship back in June officially entering the race. They even hosted him for their non-conference matchup last season against Michigan in Washington D.C..

After that visit, Hiller mentioned to The Devil's Den that it was an awesome and great experience while attending the game.  But with Florida, the Blue Devils are going to have some tough competition.

There's also a potential advantage for Florida in this recruitment. Colton's brother, Maxwell, is the No. 2 overall player in the 2027 football recruiting class and committed to the Gators back in April. He plans on enrolling in December and getting on Florida's campus to get started early.

Would Colton want to join his brother in Gainesville? That could be the biggest obstacle for the Blue Devils in this recruitment. Florida's basketball team has also been on the rise lately, winning a title just two seasons ago, so it's not like they are a slouch by any means.

It's early in this recruitment but Duke now has the chance to really make a good impression on Hiller this week on his visit.
