Here are three X-Factors for Florida to get a win this week.
The Florida Gators have been one of the more interesting teams in college football this season.
Some weeks the Gators look like one of the best teams in the country, while others, they have been blown out. Under new head coach Jon Sumrall, the team is trying to establish its identify, and the Gators have a big test this week, facing off against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Florida comes in ranked at No. 17 in the country, while the Bulldogs are the No. 3 team in the nation. This game will provide a nice challenge for the Gators, offering them another chance to take down a top-ranked team.
Here are three of the biggest X-Factors for the Gators to take down the Bulldogs this week:
1. Limit the Penalties
One area that has hurt the Gators throughout the year has been penalties, holidng this team back. Sumrall has discussed this in the past, but against a team like Georgia, the Gators can't afford to beat themselves at all.
For the year, Florida has averaged 74.6 penalty yards per game, ranking 126th in the country, compared to Georgia, who comes in ranked at 51st, averaging 52.9 penalty yards per game. In this game, the Gators will have to play disciplined football to even have a shot at taking down the Bulldogs this week.
2. Pressure Gunner Stockton
The Bulldogs quarterback has again been good this year, and the Gators are going to have to make him feel uncomfortable early on. For the season, Stockton has thrown for 1,570 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions, while posting a 74.1 completion percentage.
Georgia has an explosive offensive attack, but it all starts witt Stockton, giving the Gators a chance to slow them down a little. If the defense can force him out of a rhythm, Stockton has proven to be a little turnover-prone, and this is where Florida can gain an advantage in the game.
3. Get Jadan Baugh Back to Form
Baugh opened the year on a tear, taking over most of the talking points around this Gators team with his strong play. While Baugh has been okay the last few weeks, he hasn't been as dominant as he was to open the season for the Gators.
Overall, the veteran running back has rushed for 763 yards and 13 touchdowns this year for Florida, showing what he can do on the field. But against the Bulldogs, Florida is going to need their star back to put together another special showing if they want to get the win.
