The Florida Gators and newly-hired head coach Jon Sumrall have been on a historical run in the 2027 recruiting cycle this offseason.

Since joining the program back in December of 2025, Sumrall has quickly turned the Gators into a recruiting powerhouse once again, as the program possesses the fourth-best class in the 2027 cycle, per 247Sports. However, Florida’s hot start on the recruiting trail has shown no signs of slowing down anytime soon after landing yet another commit this week.

According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday afternoon, 2027 four-star wide receiver Elias Pearl has committed to the Gators over the likes of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida State Seminoles.

Pearl, after exploding onto the season during his junior season in high school, has quickly become a hot name amongst the 2027 recruiting class. As of this month, the well-rounded playmaker is the No. 16-ranked wide receiver in the current cycle, as well as the No. 10-ranked prospect in the state of Florida, per 247Sports’ Composite.

During his junior season at Port Charlotte High School, Pearl had an incredible year with the Pirates, recording 1,052 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 69 receptions. In addition to his strong showing through the air, the versatile offensive weapon also tallied 252 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 40 carries. Standing at 5-foot-10, 180 lbs., Pearl’s explosiveness and speed with the ball in his hands make him a perfect offensive chess piece for Sumrall in the near future.

Despite the coaching staff’s late push for Pearl this offseason, the Gators were able to quickly move on the highly-touted receiver in order to land him. The rising star is scheduled to make his official visit to Gainesville later this month on May 28.

Looking at the rest of Florida’s outstanding 2027 recruiting class, Sumrall has now managed to land a total of 16 commits upon being hired by the program. This includes five-star offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller, along with 10 four-star commits.

Pearl is the third wide receiver to announce his commitment to the Gators, as he is set to join a pair of four-star wideouts in Tramond Collins and Anthony Jennings.
