The Florida Gators and head coach Jon Sumrall have made an incredible first impression on the fanbase this year, thanks to the coaching staff’s efforts in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

Since joining the program back in December of 2025, Sumrall has successfully landed a total of 16 commits in the upcoming recruiting class, including five-star offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller and a slew of four-star prospects. However, the Gators’ dominant stretch has shown no signs of slowing down heading into the summer.

According to Gators Online’s Corey Bender, the Florida Gators are now the favorites to land 2027 four-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson over the likes of multiple elite programs, including the Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Jackson, who is entering his senior season at Lithonia High School, has quickly become a top offensive recruit within the 2027 cycle. As of this month, the well-rounded lineman is a consensus top-12 prospect in the state of Georgia, as well as the No. 14-ranked offensive tackle in the class, per 247Sports’ Composite.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing in just shy of 300 lbs., Jackson possesses a terrific frame that also provides a solid baseline to develop at the college level. This, along with the young lineman’s above-average athleticism off the line of scrimmage, should allow him to be a versatile player up front at the next level. Jackson’s experience of playing on the defensive side of the ball and being a two-sport athlete will dramatically help his development with the Gators if he ultimately chooses the program.

Despite Sumrall and Florida making a late run for Jackson in the 2027 cycle, the struggling SEC powerhouse was able to have Jackson for an unofficial visit to Gainesville back in April. In addition to visiting the Gators once this year, Jackson is set to make his official visit to the program later this month, followed by official visits to Georgia and the Tennessee Volunteers in the month of June.

With the Gators’ top-two prospects in the upcoming recruiting class residing on the offensive line, the addition of Jackson would completely bolster the unit for the foreseeable future.
