Florida Gators Land Intriguing Big 10 Transfer Portal Addition cover image

The Florida Gators and head coach Jon Sumrall continue to add players from the transfer portal this offseason.

As the Florida Gators and newly-hired head coach Jon Sumrall continue to build the program’s roster this offseason, the transfer portal has been a huge component in forming his squad this offseason.

Sumrall managed to keep 18 prospects in the team’s 2026 recruiting class, with 14 of the players being four-star prospects, according to 247Sports Composite. In addition to maintaining a top 20 class in the 2026 cycle, Florida’s coaching staff crushed the transfer portal, landing a total of 26 players via the portal.

Some of the biggest names to join the program for the 2026 season are former Georgia Tech backup quarterback Aaron Philo and former Auburn wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr.

Both additions should have an impact on the Gators’ offensive efforts, which clearly lack firepower during the 2025 season. Now, Sumrall has made another move to aid his newest offensive coordinator, Buster Faulkner, for the 2026 season on Monday.

According to a social media post earlier this week, the Gators have landed former Indiana Hoosiers’ wide receiver Ace Ciongoil in the transfer portal.

Ciongoil has had one of the most intriguing journeys throughout his college football career. Despite holding no stars coming out of high school in 2025, the Needham, MA, product received multiple walk-on opportunities. However, he would ultimately decide to continue his football career at Indiana.

While he may not have played in his first season at the college level, Ciongoil was still part of the Hoosiers’ National Championship squad this past season, giving him a championship-level background.

Looking at the rest of Sumrall’s transfer portal class this offseason, Ciongoil is now the fifth wide receiver to sign with the program through the portal. This includes former Oklahoma State speed threat Jaylen Lloyd and Wake Forest’s Micah Mays Jr. The slew of talent joining the roster for next season is set to be accompanied by the team’s young wide receiver trio of Dallas Wilson, TJ Abrams, and Vernell Brown III.
