Florida head coach Jon Sumrall continues his recruiting hot streak, beating out rivals Georgia and Miami to secure massive three-star prospect Stive-Bentley Keumajou for the Gators’ 2027 trenches.
The Florida Gators are on a hot streak in the recruiting pool.
On Tuesday, the Gators landed commits from offensive tackle Elijah Hutcheson, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound athlete from Roanoke, Virginia, and safety Kailib Dillard, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete from Tulsa, Oklahoma, committed to the Gators.
On Wednesday, UF landed three-star defensive lineman Stive-Bentley Keumajou, per Hayes Fawcet of Rivals.
"BREAKING: Class of 2027 DL Stive-Bentley Keumajou has committed to Florida, he tells me for @Rivals," Fawcet posted on X. "The 6’3 295 DL chose the Gators over Georgia, Miami, Texas, and Auburn 'Built in Homerton. Proven in Florida.'”
The wins for new head coach Jon Sumrall on the recruiting trail come as he's trying to build a championship roster before his second season in Gainesville in the 2027 campaign.
"This is a sleeping giant," Sumrall said. "I’m telling you right now, it ain’t a matter of if we’re gonna win here. It’s how fast we’re gonna win. It’s coming. This winning thing, it’s coming.
"Now, I’m not patient. I want it to happen every day. But we are going to land some pieces in recruiting. We’re about to do some things that I think will build a roster here that is going to bring it back to where we all want it to be."
Building in the trenches is a key part of that effort.
Fans on social media reacted to the news that Keumajou committed to Florida over big-name schools like Georgia, Miami, and Texas.
"OVER Georgia Kirby stuffed in a locker again this week," wrote a fan.
"And just like that, Miami takes the lead over UF in rating… Remember, the Gators spent the last two weeks saying "rating was the most important"... Hahahahahaa," posted a Miami fan.
"Over Georgia and Miami lol. Actually right from Miami's backyard. Yes, he's a 3-star but he's a high-upside athlete who basically just started playing football. Chatman knows what to do with players like this," wrote another.
"What an absolute heater we’re on," believes a fan.
"Florida may be overtaking USC as the yearly May recruiting class champs," hopes another.
