The Florida Gators and head coach Jon Sumrall were recently predicted to land another four-star prospect in the 2027 recruiting class earlier this week.
The Florida Gators, under newly-hired head coach Jon Sumrall, have been on one of the hottest runs in the 2027 recruiting cycle this offseason.
Since his arrival in Gainesville back in December of 2025, the former Tulane Green Wave head coach has landed 23 commits in the upcoming recruiting class, making the program the No. 6-best school in the 2027 cycle, per 247Sports. The group includes the No. 1 offensive tackle in five-star Maxwell Hiller, as well as 15 four-star commits.
However, Sumrall’s monumental progress on the recruiting trail has shown no signs of slowing down heading into the summer.
Earlier this week, Swamp247’s Tyler Harden gave 2027 four-star cornerback Raheem Floyd a crystal ball prediction to land with Sumrall and the Gators.
Floyd’s Recruitment Journey
Floyd, as one of the top targets for Florida this offseason, has quickly made a name for himself within a loaded 2027 recruiting class. Currently, the talented defensive back is a top-10 prospect in the state of Illinois, as well as the No. 20-ranked cornerback in the upcoming recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ Composite.
Throughout his time at East St. Louis High School, Floyd has proven himself to be a terrific defensive back with loads of potential heading into college. In two seasons with the Flyers, the highly-touted defender recorded 131 tackles and six interceptions, which paved the way for him to land a spot on The Opening Finals roster this year.
Standing at 6-foot-2, 170 lbs., it’s clear that Floyd must add on to his frame in order for him to become a difference-maker in college. However, his quickness and high IQ on the field allow him to excel at the high school level, and his skill set will easily translate once he reaches the college level.
Looking at the rest of the Gators’ 2027 class, if Sumrall is able to secure a commitment from Floyd, Florida’s defensive backs in the upcoming class would be nothing short of impressive. As of this month, the Gators possess a pair of cornerback commits in four-stars Aamaury Fountain and Amare Nugent.
In addition to the potential three-headed monster at the cornerback position, Florida also landed two safety commits in four-star Kailib Dillard and three-star Robert Geathers III.
