A massive upset over the Longhorns vaults the Gators back into the rankings.

The Florida Gators didn't have to stay out of the AP Top 25 for long as their three-point upset at Texas got them right back in.

Florida is officially the nation's No. 20-ranked team, though some Gators fans are taking offense to that ranking as the Longhorns are slotted in at No. 19.

Obviously, Florida just beat Texas, yet they are still ranked one spot below Arch Manning and Co.

Regardless, it's promising to see a number attached to Florida's name once again after they had dropped a pair of embarrassing games to Missouri and South Carolina.

The post-Week 7 poll was revealed on Sunday, Oct. 18, and it featured a 12-spot increase for the Gators while the Longhorns fell 12 spots themselves.

Florida sits at No. 20

Currently 5-2, the only teams ranked below Florida are Boise State, Missouri, SMU, Northwestern, and Arizona.

Missouri is the only one on that list to have a pair of losses. The only other two-loss teams ranked ahead of the Gators are Texas, LSU, and Alabama.

Seeing as the Gators have a Bye here in Week 8, it'll be interesting to see if they remain in the AP Top 25 ahead of their highly anticipated showdown against currently No. 5-ranked Georgia on Halloween.

Georgia shockingly slipped up at home against Auburn in a 27-24 game. Coincidentally, that was the exact same score as the Florida vs. Texas game, though it's quite noteworthy as the Gators went to Auburn and took care of business, 44-39, back on Sept. 19.

This is the biggest stretch of Florida's season, and suddenly they could once again find themselves in the College Football Playoff conversation if they're able to knock off Texas and Georgia in back-to-back games.

Not only does Florida have Week 8 off, but the Bulldogs do as well. Each team is going to be well-rested and more motivated than ever as each has CFP aspirations at this point in the season.

Florida didn't knock Texas entirely out of the playoffs, but they're going to need to win out and get help from some other teams.

With the current 12-team format, Georgia is the only one out of this trio that would currently make it in. That said, Florida pulling off an upset changes everything, and that's exactly what head coach Jon Sumrall is looking to do after this team's surprising skid against the Tigers and Gamecocks.
