Florida Gators star running back Jadan Baugh has been given a strong Heisman ranking coming into Week 3.
The Florida Gators were able to take down Campbell in Week 2, grabbing another win to open the college football season.
Florida now moves to 2-0 for the first time since 2021, showing strong command in head coach Jon Sumrall's debut season. But the Gators understand that the job is far from over, and that there is a lot of the season left to go.
A lot of the Gators' success has been through the running game, with back Jadan Baugh emerging as a true star in the sport. Baugh had a breakout 2025 season that saw him rush for 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns.
But to start his 2026 season, Baugh has been electric for Florida. Through the first two games of the year, Baugh has rushed for 296 yards and five touchdowns.
His start to the year has earned him some buzz around the Heisman Trophy. Entering Week 3 of the season, Baugh was ranked No. 9 on the On3 list of Heisman candidates for the season.
Baugh may have a tough time getting into the top part of candidates, bit the fact that he is ranked this highly is telling.
This is high praise for the Gators running back, but it just shows how special of a season he has put together so far. Baugh has put Florida on his back so far this year, and it's translated to a ton of optimism around the team.
While it remains to be seen how Baugh will play against tougher competition, there shouldn't be too much of a drop-off. Baugh is a special player whom the Gators have built their offensive system around.
"Man, he is a powerful, sudden, violent runner who can stick his foot in the ground," Sumrall said. "He just runs with such conviction. The way he runs, you feel his runs."
Baugh has also started to get more noise from the NFL due to his performance, with the running back being predicted to be taken in the first round in multiple 2027 mock drafts. If he were to keep up his strong play, this could be the floor for the star running back as his career continues after this season.
The Gators will be heading out on the road in Week 3, taking on the Auburn Tigers for their first SEC game of the season. This will give Baugh a chance to make another statement in his quest to win the Heisman, getting more eyes on his game.
