While Eric Singleton Jr. wouldn't officially be making his Florida Gators debut in Week 4 against Ole Miss, this game would certainly give him the best odds of recording his first reception at The Swamp.

Singleton Jr. has missed nearly all three games this season due to an ankle injury. He appeared in the season opener, but that was a very short-lived performance as the Gators would eventually defeat Florida Atlantic, 66-21, with ease.

Things were far from easy a week ago against Auburn, but Florida went to the Tigers house and brought home a shocking 44-39 victory that propelled them into the AP Top 25.

Here on Saturday, Sept. 26, they have their biggest test of the season. Ole Miss is no joke. They're ranked No. 4 for a reason and just defeated their old head coach, Lane Kiffin, proving this Rebels team is one he probably shouldn't have left in the dust.

Flordia's offense looked great against Auburn, but if Ole Miss is able to stop Jadan Baugh and this team's run-game, what will they look like in the air?

Hours prior to kickoff, CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz shined a new light on Singleton's ankle injury.

In a report that echoes what head coach Jon Sumrall said earlier in the week, Zenitz confirmed that Singleton is indeed a game-time decision.

That said, Zenits said "there's optimism" that he might be available, so Gators fans will have to take that for what it is.

Ultimately, "a final decision will be made pre-game."

It's not like Florida's passing game has been horrific without Singleton, but they went out and got him in the portal for a reason.

Singleton began his career at Georgia Tech before transfering to Auburn in 2025.

While he may have seen a career high in receptions (58), he only turned that into 534 yards which was a new career low.

Singleton wasn't a fan of his usage with the Tigers, and averaging 9.2 yards per reception wasn't going to cut it for the Georgia native. 

Remember, Singleton averaged 14.9 yards per reception as a freshman and then followed that up with an average of 13.5 yards the following year.

Singleton has 12 career reception touchdowns, but 13 total as he had a rushing touchdown with the Yellow Jackets in 2024.

Florida enters this top-25 matchup ranked No. 21 and would love a statement home victory against Ole Miss, one that would see their chances greatly increase if Singleton is back on the field.
