Can the Gators recover going forward?

The Florida Gators are one of the more fascinating teams across the college football landscape this season under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall.

After a strong start to the season, with the Gators taking down some top teams, Florida dropped two in a row. This started some real questions around the program, but the team was able to get back on track against the Texas Longhorns.

Florida is now coming off a tough loss against the Georgia Bulldogs, falling 27-8. The Gators' record now sits at 5-3 on the season, with four games remaining on the schedule.

But now that the two games against Texas and Georgia are over, what does the rest of the Gators' schedule look like?

November 7: at home vs Oklahoma

Despite the fact tnat the Sooners aren't having as strong of a season this year, this team can still be dangerous. Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer can create real problems for this Gators defense, so the team will need to come in with a good mindset.

Mateer was in the Heisman race for most of last season, and the Gators will need to try to keep him under control. With the game being played at home, the edge likely goes to Florida in this one, however.

November 14: on road vs Kentucky

This is likely the hardest game left on the Gators schedule, with the Wildcats playing very well this season. New head coach Will Stein has this team performing over expectations, and this could be a tight contest all around.

Kentucky has the firepower to give the Gators a test, especially with the game being played on the road for Florida. The Gators will want to grab this win through, knocking off another top-ranked team along the way.

November 21: at home vs Vanderbilt

With a game against Florida State the folliwjg week, this could be a trap game of sorts for the Gators. But Sumrall should have his guys ready to go, especially coming off a few tough games the weeks prior.

Vanderbilt is back to being at the bottom of teh SEC standings, but the Gators can't overlook this team at all. Florida will have to take care of business here, giving themselves another win on the resume for the year.

November 28: on road vs Florida State

This is one of the more fun games on Florida's schedule every season, with the two programs playing for bragging rights. This rivalry game tends to be highly-anticpated each year, no matter what the team's record is.

Florida has won two in a row against the Seminoles, and this group will try to make it a third straight win. If the Gators can take care of business in the weeks prior, this game could determine how the 2026 Florida team is viewed.
