Link Jarrett reloads after heavy MLB Draft losses, securing elite arms and high-profile power hitters to keep the Seminoles in the hunt for a return to Omaha.
Baseball America put out its Top 25 Baseball Recruiting Class Rankings on Monday, after the deadline for Major League draftees to sign with their respective pro teams had passed.
The Florida State Seminoles recruiting class came in at No. 19 and ranked No. 7 in the ACC.
The Seminoles are coming off a 40-19 season that saw them get eliminated from the Tallahassee regional. Coach Link Jarrett then watched as his entire starting pitching rotation of Wes Mendes, Trey Beard and Bryson Moore, plus handful of key relief pitchers, and power-hitting first baseman Myles Bailey and reliable outfielder Brayden Dowd were drafted into the major leagues.
In addition, Jarrett lost two of his top recruits, Landon Thome and Kaden Waetcher, very early in the draft.
But the Seminoles still landed these talented players that could make a significant impact on the diamond, sooner rather than later.
RHP Donovan Thiery
In command of a 98-mph fastball, Thiery is a 4-star prospect that can dominate hitters. If Thiery can acclimate to the college game and live up to his potential, Jarrett may find it hard to keep him out of the rotation.
RHP Brayden Harris
A first-team All-American by Perfect Game, Harris throws a mid-90s fastball and a wicked breaking ball. Last season’s stat line for Harris looks like this:
- 1.07 ERA
- 85 innings pitched
- 12-2 record
- .149 batting average against him
- 165 strikeouts
- 19 walks
3B Yodelkis Quevedo
Quevedo was the Miami-Dade County Player of the Year last season and is rated as the No. 7 third baseman in the country by Perfect Game.
OF Genson Veras
Perfect Game ranks Veras as the No. 21 outfielder nationally. Veras is a big guy, standing 6-foot-6. Last season, he swatted 13 home runs and drove in 45 runs. He is the son of former major league pitcher Jose Veras, who won a World Series ring in 2009.
Combine these young recruits with an experienced transfer class that consists of players like JUCO All-American catcher Coy Clements, Big East Pitcher of the Year Cayden Suchy, designated hitter Jackson McKenzie, outfielder Ty Peoples, and infielder Callum Early to name a few.
Also, Jarret will welcome back a core group of starters to pass along some knowledge of the collegiate game to these prized prospects, including:
- Reliever John Abraham
- OF John Stuetzer
- OF Brody DeLamielleure
- INF Cal Fisher
The Seminoles will be talented again in 2027, looking to get back to the super regionals and potentially an appearance in the College World Series.
