Florida State volleyball was beat 3-0 against rival Miami, and now must get ready for a tough ACC matchup against the 10-3 NC State Wolfpack.

Florida State volleyball was defeated in straight sets by Miami 3-0. With the loss Florida State falls to .500, at 6-6 overall, and 1-1 inside the ACC.

All-ACC performer Kyleene Filimaua led the team with 20.5 points and 19 kills. Filimaua led Florida State with 443 kills in 2025. Freshman Sofia Moss had 10 kills, and junior Emma Lilo had 24 assists in the match.

After going back and forth swapping leads, Florida State held a 15-13 advantage at the media timeout in the first set. The two teams would then battle to a 23-23 tie. Florida State took the lead 24-23, then Miami went on a 4-1 run to win the set. 27-25. 

In the second set, the teams were tied at 10-10, before Miami surged to take the lead 15-3 at the media timeout. Miami would hold on to the lead and win 25-20.

The third set Florida State led 7-2, before taking their lead into the media timeout up 15-10. Florida State would then extend their lead by one, taking the lead at 19-13. The Hurricanes stormed back scoring five straight, before tying Florida State 20-20. From there, Miami outscored Florida State 5-3, to win the set 25-23, and win the match 3-0.

The Seminoles will face off with the North Carolina State Wolfpack next. 

NC State is 10-3 overall and 1-1 in the ACC. Two of their losses have come to ranked teams, No. 21 Indiana, and No.24 North Carolina. They have wins against LSU and Duke. 

Florida State and NC State have played 61 times with Florida State having a 52-9 lead in the series. NC State won last year's five-set match when Rebecca Ring scored 18 kills for the Wolfpack.

NC State is led by head coach Megan Wargo-Kearney. Wargo-Kearney was an assistant for NC State for five seasons before taking over the reins in 2024.

Key players that NC State will lean on are: Kate Kilpatrick, Callie Combs, and Clara Vondron.

Kilpatrick had double-digit kills in 21 of 25 matches last season. In 2025 she led her team with 28 service aces. 

Combs was the Max Preps Player of the Year in Ohio last season. She was an honorable mention All-American last season as well.

Vondron had 105 kills last season. She appeared in 27 matches last season, starting in 14.

NC State will travel to Tallahassee on October 2, first serve is set for 6 p.m. ET.
