FSU's most-awaited recruiting need for Class of 2027 finally solved as QB Logan Flaherty announces commitment.
Mike Norvell earned a major recruiting win on Tuesday as Port Charlotte QB Logan Flaherty announced his commitment to Florida State University, becoming the No. 7 commit in Norvell's Class of 2027.
All signs were pointing towards Flaherty picking the Seminoles over other schools hot on his trail, like Rutgers, Georgia Tech, and USF.
The commit was a long-anticipated and desperately needed one. FSU's Class of 2027 was in dire need of a QB commit following 4-star local product Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV's commitment to Notre Dame earlier this month.
He joins four-star recruits, safety Mekhi Williams, linebacker Gregory Batson, and edge Anthony Cavallaro, plus three-star prospects safety Jemari Foreman, cornerback Dayon Cooper, and tight end Connor Winn.
Ranked the No. 39 QB in Rivals industry ranking, Flaherty completed over 60 percent of his passes for 2,636 yards and 27 touchdowns. He rushed for 595 more yards and 11 scores. Plus, he has played in 35 games during his career, and his senior year will be his third as a starter.
QB Coach Austin Tucker played a primary role in locking in the 6-foot-2 1/2, 200-pound signal caller.
“My relationship with Coach Tucker is extremely good and has gotten better since January when he got promoted,” Flaherty said.
“Coach Norvell is a great coach and has been recruiting me since my sophomore year and FSU has the facilities capability of being and competing with top teams in the country.”
Flaherty's commitment solves what easily was the biggest concern for Norvell's recruiting class. While Ashton Daniels is still searching for his definitive breakout moment, the Port Charlotte (Fla.) High 3-star's commitment means the coaching staff can finally breathe a sigh of relief and focus on addressing other important recruiting needs.
The Noles extended an offer to Flaherty back in November 2024 and have been chasing him for two years. He has visited them numerous times throughout his recruitment, which kept things hopeful when FSU was facing back-to-back bad news with other recruits.
Flaherty further explained how it was all the recruiting efforts during the past two years was what stood out to him, and made his choice obvious.
“Another big factor is it being my dream school and one of my first offers,” Flaherty said. “Like I said earlier Norvell has been recruiting me since I was a sophomore which means a lot as well as both of my parents going to FSU and growing up watching FSU football makes this a dream come true and makes them a really special place to me.”
Flaherty's dynamic signal-calling abilities should be a perfect fir for Norvell's offense.
