Florida State football sits at five verbal commits for the 2027 class.
Head coach Mike Norvell, offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. and FSU's staff are working diligently to nab a sixth. And they're aggressively courting a talented receiver per the four-star's words.
Jamarin Simmons is a longtime Seminoles target. But he revealed this stirring message to Zach Blostein of 247Sports of what the Seminoles coaches all told him.
"I'm the top guy. I'm the guy they want. I'm from the city. I'm the guy they want to come fit their program," Simmons said.
Simmons would become a massive local recruiting win if he chooses to stay home, as he stars for Amos P. Godby High in Tallahassee.
Florida State indeed is on his short list of schools. But are the Noles officially No. 1 on his list?
"Clemson is still number one and I see FSU still at the top of the list," Simmons claimed to Blostein.
He outlined why he's taking a liking to the Tigers.
"Just checking out both of them, I would say Dabo Swinney -- great guy," Simmons began. "He's about his business, about his program and how his program works differently."
He also took a glance at the Tigers' coaching staff and notices how alums circle back to Swinney.
"Their coaching staff, they've got 28 former players that played at Clemson and came back and wanted to coach at Clemson. It's just a great environment. It feels like home to me," Simmons said.
But Simmons dropped why he's intrigued by FSU, especially after interacting with Norvell.
"Coach Mike Norvell, he just brings energy everyday. You're just going to get used to him," Simmons said. "Every time you see coach Mike Norvell, he's just going to bring energy. I'm like an energy type of guy. I always bring energy to everywhere I go and everything I do."
Once again, FSU handed him the home vibe and is a short driving distance for him.
"It's like five or six minutes away from me. It definitely feels home here," he said. "Coach Mike Norvell, the coaching staff, the receivers -- it just feels like home."
Simmons would become the first wide receiver commit for the '27 cycle if he chooses FSU. The Noles only have tight end Connor Winn as their lone offensive commit. But FSU ranks No. 17 in recruiting rankings so far by 247Sports, then sit at No. 16 from On3/Rivals.
