Florida State locked in its quarterback for 2026 -- fulfilling a "dream" for this incoming talent.
But it's not Anthony Colandrea, nor even DJ Lagway despite reports of him having a "cloud nine" visit at FSU.
Ashton Daniels is going from Auburn to Tallahassee -- plus returning to the Atlantic Coast Conference in choosing the Seminoles Tuesday morning.
This becomes his third collegiate stop as Daniels began his career at Stanford, including when the Cardinal moved over to the ACC.
Daniels immediately opened up about landing with the 'Noles via Brendan Sonnone of 247Sports.
"FSU is a dream school for me to be able to finish my college career," Daniels admitted to Noles247. "This coaching staff and the people involved with this program have shown me what it means and takes to be a Seminole and nothing excites me more than that."
Daniels, a dual-threat passer, is embracing his new digs.
"I already love this place and community and can't wait to attack this offseason with my brothers and give this community what they deserve," he said.
Daniels brings past ties to offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, as both share an Auburn connection. He'll know how to operate Malzahn's vaunted offensive attack out of the RPO (run pass option).
The Buford, Ga., native played sparingly for Auburn in 2025 -- racking up 797 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. He completed 57.1% of his throws.
Daniels delivered his most production on the west coast. He played three seasons at Stanford under then head coach Troy Taylor. Daniels tossed 21 combined touchdowns in his final two seasons in Palo Alto but getting 20 interceptions. But he ended the '24 season hitting 699 rushing yards for a career-high there. He'll bring 1,401 ground-based yards in tow with 11 touchdowns over to FSU.
With Daniels on board, does this mean the Seminoles are officially out on Colandrea and Lagway?
New reports via Noles247 state that Colandrea left his FSU visit without a finalized NIL deal. He since visited Georgia Tech but is also linked to Nebraska out of the Big Ten.
Lagway meanwhile told 247Sports that he loved his visit. He even called the people around the FSU campus "genuine" including the coaches he could be playing for.
However, Lagway hasn't decided on where to go next. He still has a visit with Virginia lined up -- the same UVA team that played for the ACC title this past season.
