The Seminoles received a big visitor during the weekend of March 7, earning a chance to change the mind of one Mississippi State commit.

Florida State football hosted a pivotal weekend in March: The first recruiting weekend ahead of spring practices.

That included bringing out a talent who's supposed to be Southeastern Conference bound.

Mississippi State cornerback commit Brandon Allen took in the Tallahassee campus Saturday. He explained the reason behind his visit with Noles247.

"I wanted to go to Florida State today to be able to see coach Blue [Adams] and see the facility because I didn't get to see it last time. Definitely wanted to check the facility and fully experience the school," Allen told Zach Blostein of 247Sports.

He liked how blunt FSU's defensive back coach was with him.

"Coach Blue kept it straight forward. He was like 'I want you to play' and they want to win right now," Allen said.. "So that's bringing nobody in that's just to sit for two years or not play. They're bringing somebody to win now because their mindset is to win. They've got to win this year. Definitely bring me into play. They think I can do it and I think I can do it."

So does this mean Allen is tempted to pivot out of his Bulldogs commitment?

"Florida State stacks up in my top schools right now," Allen now says.

This is music to the ears of FSU fans who follow recruiting. Especially those who hope to see new talent coming into the secondary.

However, FSU fans thinking Allen will dip out of the SEC school for the Noles should temper their excitement.

"I'm still committed to Mississippi State. Still fully committed," Allen said. "I love coach [Corey] Bell and coach [Jeff] Lebby. So I'm still 100% committed but you never know what could happen so you have to keep your options open."

Once again verbal commitments don't assure a player officially becomes a member of the university. Each prospect still must sign their National Letter of Intent to solidify their spot with a team's recruiting class, regardless of NIL status.

But Adams interacted with one of Florida State's top recruiters on the defensive side. He's already landed four-star safety Mekhi Williams out of Lennard High in Ruskin, Fla., who's the Seminoles' top-ranked recruit right now per 247.

FSU is also pursuing four-star Ai'King Hall on the recruiting trail with Adams at the forefront there.
