New reports reveal the Seminoles are on the rise for one 6-foot-5 transfer portal talent still seeking a home.

Florida State locked in Ashton Daniels from Auburn after losing out on Anthony Colandrea and DJ Lagway. Then hosted a pair of junior college quarterbacks.

But just when it looked like FSU pivoted to the JUCO ranks for another QB, the 'Noles are now rising for one surprise QB who brings intriguing athleticism at 6-foot-5, 215-pounds.

Noles247 reports that Texas Southern dual-threat KJ Cooper is on the FSU portal radar. A visit could be in the works later this week in Tallahassee.

Cooper delivered a 60.5% completion percentage behind center. He fired 13 touchdowns, six interceptions in 10 games.

Cooper showed his mobility too in the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) realm -- tallying 292 rushing yards and scoring four times off designed handoffs.

The El Paso native has delivered quite the trajectory in his CFB career. He originally started his career at Minnesota State C.C. as a two-star recruit. The only known stats there are playing three games and scoring seven touchdowns. But averaged 311.7 yards per game passing wise. He was also picked off eight times.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder played sparingly in 2024 -- completing 66.7% of his throws while adding 52 yards rushing.

Cooper would be taking a huge jump here if he lands at FSU. He's gone from two-star, to JUCO talent, to HBCU starting QB to now...possibly joining Daniels in Tallahassee to lead the Seminoles offense into 2026.

Cooper on film shows a big arm that could translate over to the Atlantic Coast Conference. He's also kept plays alive before getting the ball out. But many will wonder if he can adjust to an even faster climate in the ACC if he indeed chooses FSU.

Again, FSU rose as a potential destination for Colandrea out of UNLV. But he's since taken the NIL deal offered to him at Nebraska. Lagway went from hated rival Florida to visiting the FSU campus. But he's now set to suit up for Baylor.

Colton Joseph of Old Dominion surfaced as a another possible QB target and garnered lots of praise in the portal. Wisconsin out of the Big Ten wins him over.

FSU under Mike Norvell continues to pivot toward transfer QBs to lead his offense. Jordan Travis (Louisville), D.J. Uiagalelei (Oregon State, Clemson) and Tommy Castellanos (Boston College) represent the more recent signal callers.
