There's new developments involving the quarterback room on the recruiting trail for the Seminoles.

Is Florida State football closing in on finding out who its 2027 quarterback will be?

The Seminoles appear to be heading toward answering that question now that the calendar has flipped to May.

Two names have entered the picture: Wonderful Monds IV and Logan Flaherty. Here's the latest report.

Was Florida State Frontrunner for Monds?

The four-star listed FSU in his short list. But Notre Dame rises as the winner.

Monds' decision becomes a huge local blow for head coach Mike Norvell and the FSU coaching staff. As the QB hails from Vero Beach.

But there was another power in the mix per 247Sports' Garrick Hodge: Ohio State.

"Monds was primarily in consideration because he was near the top of the Buckeyes' 2028 class wish list, then he eventually reclassified to 2027 so the Buckeyes opted to continue their due diligence," Hodge said. "With Monds off to Notre Dame, will the Buckeyes still pursue a second signal caller this cycle? There doesn't seem to be a fully fledged definitive answer to that question right now, but reading the tea leaves, it certainly looks like that's in the cards for the scarlet and gray."

Still, Monds choosing ND over FSU forces the Seminoles to redirect their efforts here:

Current Big 12 Commit now on FSU Board

Central Florida QB pledge Flaherty is likely to trend up for Florida State.

And FSU is expected to turn the heat up on his recruitment per a conversation he had with Zach Blostein of 247Sports

"I would say the biggest one so far is Florida State," Flaherty said during the NCAA Spring Evaluation period. "When they came down, from the conversation I had, it made it seem like they were going to start turning up the heat a little bit on me and start being more aggressive on the recruiting side."

QBs coach Austin Tucker is courting the Port Charlotte High star.

"He said that he wasn't surprised by what he saw but that it just checked a lot of his boxes, that he was super fired up," he said. "He told me specifically, he said 'We want to get more aggressive with you moving forward.' He was he was super fired up to go back and report to coach Norvell. He just really liked my leadership skills. He knew I had the physical side and skillsets to be able to play, but he needed to see the intangible stuff that you can't measure. So seeing me communicate and lead the team, how I talk to my guys and take control of practice -- that's what he needed to see. He said that once he saw that, it checked all his boxes."

Safe to say a new crystal ball could be in place for Flaherty.
