The Seminoles just increased momentum for highly-coveted quarterback Israel Abrams.
Fans hoping to see Florida State proactively pursue a 2027 quarterback got some long-awaited news this week.
Four-star QB Israel Adams took in Tallahassee and the Seminoles Tuesday, then told Noles247 that he raved about his recruiting visit.
Why is the Adams news relevant here? The 6-foot-4, 187-pounder is the nation's No. 2 overall quarterback for his graduation class.
"I was surprised by this, most definitely. They took me off guard a little bit," Abrams said to Chris Nee. "And I'm not saying I came down here with bad expectations. I just didn't expect it. I've never been to Tallahassee anymore so it's just a different experience I feel like."
Abrams, who stars for Montini Catholic in Arlington Heights, Ill., added the trip left him "speechless."
"I really think this is a really cool place and people should definitely give it a shot. Definitely just get down here," he suggested to other recruits.
Again, Abrams' words is a strong sign he'll consider the Seminoles. He also observed one key recruiting win head coach Mike Norvell managed to pull off one year ago.
"Taking a guy like Jaden O'Neal last year. I see their quarterback transfer from Auburn [Ashton Daniels] this year. It kind of fits the type of player, that offensive scheme. He sees bringing in Jaden O'Neal and then me as not that different. Same type of quarterback," Abrams said. "I think that's good. Two same type of body builds. It was good. Seeing them operating an offense like this lets me know that maybe I could operate an offense like this.
He added that the offense is "fast" and "effective," plus liked how "It's an NFL style offense." Abrams further broke down what he enjoyed about breaking down the Seminoles' system.
"You have to make checks. All the stuff that an NFL offense wants you to do. If I came here, it'd be nothing but setting me up in a good position for my future," Abrams said.
Florida State still faces fierce competition to land Abrams, though. Auburn and Kentucky are two summertime visits lined up for him come June. But he's not ruling out a future FSU visit.
"Definitely the plan," he concludes. "I don't know if I'm going back everywhere on an official visit. I think Florida State will be a place for an official visit that I'll be back to."
Abrams is the state of Illinois' top overall prospect and holds 23 total offers. He's "warm" on one other Atlantic Coast Conference school in Miami. But FSU is gaining steam after bringing him in on a visit.
