The Seminoles got on board with offering Israel Abrams a month ago. But sounds like FSU is trending upward for the dual-threat.

Florida State football entered the race to land four-star quarterback Israel Abrams one month ago through its offer.

The Seminoles appear to be trending upward as a school of interest for the top-ranked quarterback prospect from the state of Illinois.

The star of Montini Catholic High in Arlington Heights landed his FSU opportunity back in February. But now the 'Noles have locked in two future visits per Zach Blostein of Noles247

"Israel Abrams is the No. 2 ranked quarterback nationally per 247Sports and despite only offering him just over a month ago, Florida State has locked in both a spring visit and a summer official visit with the Illinois native," Blostein wrote. "It sounds like due to FSU being a relatively recent offer for Abrams, he's still building up a relationship with the staff in Tallahassee."

However, the 6-foot-4, 187-pounder has immediately taken a liking to the leader of the Seminoles.

"Coach Mike Norvell speaks for himself. He's been a successful coach," Abrams told 247Sports. "Looking forward to building that relationship with him."

But as Abrams reminded: "They came along a little later (with an offer), so still getting to know them."

Still, this is a strong sign for FSU and Norvell -- especially considering what month the calendar has now landed in.

March is historically the most pivotal month on the spring calendar for multiple reasons. For starters, spring football practices start up across the nation at the Football Bowl Subdivision level. But secondly, schools like Florida State can turn to the third month of the year to re-host prospects on campus.

High school talent or junior college athletes seeking a home can watch teams practice while on a visit to the campus. The third month of the year serves as a critical period for coaches like the FSU staff to win over recruits and build up their recruiting classes.

So how can Norvell and his staff win over the Illinois talent?

"A successful visit this spring will be key to FSU having a shot to land Abrams," Blostein said.

Abrams isn't the only four-star target FSU is hot after. State of Kentucky wide receiver Cam Wade is trekking upward as a possible new Seminoles commit. Wade has spoken highly of FSU in recent weeks.
