Florida State 'in a Good Position' Already for 2028 Talents cover image

The Seminoles are proactively recruiting three 2028 talents representing the trenches, and have risen as the early frontrunner.

Florida State football has the 2027 recruiting class to fill out between now and early December. But FSU is winning over 2028 prospects too.

Three in particular who are in-state talents.

Chad Simmons of On3/Rivals revealed Wednesday the trio who are being courted early by the Seminoles -- including revealing where they stand.

"Offensive lineman George Selvie out of Riverview, Fla., Sumner is regarded as a Top 20 prospect nationally in his class. Florida State offered early and has already hosted him multiple times," Simmons wrote.

Th recruiting insider revealed who's courting the five-star whose father played for the St. Louis Rams in the early 2010s.

"Offensive line coach Herb Hand is heavily involved, and the Seminoles have established themselves as the early favorite," Simmons said.

That's excellent news for FSU fans -- as Hand is deliver a hand in aiming to keep a five-star home. Head coach Mike Norvell and his staff have had difficulty with landing five-stars as of late.

On the other side of the trenches, edge rusher coach Nick Williams is winning over a 14-offer talent.

"Plantation pass rusher Meshi Dobson is another 2028 name trending nationally," Simmons said. "He has quickly built a strong connection with defensive line coach Nick Williams and Florida State has positioned itself well in the early stages of his recruitment."

Dobson is unranked by 247Sports but is an early three-star by On3/Rivals. Miami is one in-state challenger courting The 6-foot-3 talent. He's also received offers from Auburn and Kentucky out of the Southeastern Conference.

Lastly, it's not just the trenches FSU is proactively hitting up for '28. Norvell and the 'Noles are looking for their next quarterback leader for that recruiting class. So who's trending upward per Simmons?

"Lake Brantley standout Jackson Stretcher is beginning to trend upward on recruiting boards," Simmons said. "He visited FSU in January and came away impressed."

Two coaches have risen in the picture for the three-star who stands at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds.

"His relationship with quarterbacks coach Austin Tucker stands out, and he has spoken highly of Mike Norvell," Simmons said.

FSU holds no verbal commits for the '28 class. Meanwhile, FSU is trekking up for 6-foot-4 defensive back Alan Blackshere of Norland High in Miami.
