Florida State continues to give transfer-portal visitors a tour of the facilities in Tallahassee, mapping out the vision the Seminoles have for players should they commit.
One College Football Playoff defender, though, dropped a glowing review on his visit, including raving about edge-rush coach Nick Williams.
Noah Carter of Alabama delivered a glowing review of Florida State on Wednesday night, in an interview with Noles247.
"I loved the visit. Coaches showed love. Coach Ris and Coach Williams," Carter told Chris Nee of 247Sports. "It was a great opportunity -- they showed a great opportunity towards me. I loved the facilities for sure."
Already, Carter learned how FSU wants to unleash him.
"They basically just said I would be playing the JACK," Carter said.
What exactly does the "JACK" do in Tallahassee?
"The JACK position is very versatile," Carter said. "I would be showing out the things I could do for sure."
Carter adds that he spoke with defensive coordinator Tony White about the position. But also received clarity from the other coaches.
"They told me their plan and how they would use me. I liked it for sure," he said. "The biggest thing for me in this process is really the coaches. A big thing for me is coaches' trust in me and trusting the things I can do on the field."
But Carter especially loved chatting with Williams -- who could become his next position coach should he go from Tuscaloosa to Tallahassee.
"Coach Williams has a lot of energy. I loved how he was just saying all the people who he coached already," Carter said.
Carter was on the losing side of the Alabama-FSU battle to kick off the 2025 season. He didn't record any tackles or other stats from that game.
Carter played in 11 games, with 88 defensive snaps, and racked up nine tackles. He also played in three games during his freshman season.
FSU already landed one edge rusher in the portal -- as Rylan Kennedy comes over via Texas A&M. Like Carter, Kennedy tasted the CFP, but lost to a semifinalist in Miami.
Carter would fill to a big need for FSU as the defensive-line unit lost seven players to the portal. Florida State also lost top safety Earl Little Jr., who choose for the portal instead of declaring for the NFL draft.
