The Seminoles could also know a big decision from the former Bobcats defensive lineman soon.

Florida State football doesn't appear to be done portal hunting just yet. Even after wrapping up spring ball.

The Seminoles became fixated on one talented defensive lineman who left the Sun Belt Conference and is still seeking a collegiate home.

Noles247 revealed where things stands between FSU and Devarrick Woods, formerly of Texas State.

"Florida State is in search of veteran talent for their interior defensive line. With that in mind, they hosted transfer defensive lineman Devarrick Woods from Texas State on Thursday and Friday," Chris Nee of Noles247 reported.

Woods entered having realized that he's still got an extra eligibility year left. And he spoke glowingly about his visit.

"It was great," Woods said. "I loved the people. Great environment."

He added what he's seeking in his next college home.

"Just a great environment around coaches that help me to develop to play on the next level," Woods said.

He managed to interact with defensive line coach Terrance Knighton, with Woods saying that Knighton loved how versatile he is along the front line, as he's played in multiple spots.

But his primary recruiter in the portal is Jaleel McCrae, who serves as an assistant defensive line coach.

"He was just telling me about the people as well," Woods said. "How good the environment is and how it is a great place to be."

FSU presents some leverage in the DL room already if it continues to proactively land Woods.

His former college football teammate Jordan Sanders in in the FSU trenches and just completed spring ball in Tallahassee.

Woods played just one season in San Marcos, Tex., for the soon-to-be Pac-12 school. He never earned a star ranking out of Airline High School in Bossier City, La.

He played at Hinds Community College in choosing the junior college route. He starred there in totaling 43 tackles, seven stops behind the line of scrimmage and delivered four sacks in 2024. He transferred to Texas State after the '24 season. He only managed just nine solo tackles and one sack.

Nee believes FSU is in a great spot to land the still-available portal entry.

"The Seminoles feel good about their starting defensive line unit but beyond them, they lack experience. An addition like Woods makes sense as he has some college experience while also bolstering their depth, making them less likely to rely on some of the youth in that room," Nee said.

Woods is one of two notable remaining targets for FSU who surfaced in the past week. UCF quarterback commit Logan Flaherty is rising as a possible new commit, especially after QB Wonderful Monds chose Notre Dame.
