Florida State baseball will chase an NCAA postseason return under 72 degree weather Friday.
But before facing James Madison, Link Jarrett needed to find out who'll lead the diamond talent on the Seminoles for the 2026 season.
He's helped roll out Ben Barrett, Cal Fisher and Myles Bailey as the captains this season.
“I love this moment for our team,” Jarrett said to reporters. “The locker room speaks, and we listen to their voices on captains."
But was it his decision or the players who chose the trio?
"It’s totally a player vote," Jarrett explained.
He dove further on why Barrett, Fisher and Bailey will lead the 'Noles moving forward starting with Friday.
"These three represent work ethic, character and production. I am happy for them and their families, it is a really cool honor," Jarrett said.
Barrett enters season four in Tallahassee. He's made seven starts on the hill as a right-handed option for FSU. Barrett struck out 54 total batters last season during Florida State's charge into the NCAA Super Regional. Off the diamond, Barrett maintains a 3.459 grade point average.
Bailey went from Freshman All-American to captain as a sophomore. He's the lone underclassman leader among the captains. He earned 55 starts at the bat. But won over FSU fans by blasting 19 home runs to lead the team. Bailey especially ignited the crowd on May 31, 2025 with smacking a grand slam.
Bailey, who hails from Tallahassee, drove in 53 runners off his hits. He finished second in doubles with 11 and figures to provide some big at-bats for FSU.
The junior Fisher played in 53 games with 52 starts as a sophomore in 2025. He ripped 57 hits that handed him a .303 batting average. But Fisher sent the ball over the fence for eight home runs.
He also delivered 37 RBI and 32 runs scored. Before his FSU career, Fisher was named to the Tallahassee Regional All-Regional Team and to the CSC Academic All-District Team in 2025. Fisher is a 3.406 student who's a finance major.
Florida State starts the first of a three-game tilt with the Diamond Dukes out of the Sun Belt Conference. JMU went 17-38 overall last season.
