The Seminoles boosted their 2026-27 roster in a big way with this mid-major star.
Florida State basketball hosted as many as four transfers during the week of April 13.
The Seminoles and head coach Luke Loucks just landed one of their biggest gets in the portal.
UNC Asheville standout Kameron Taylor arrives to Tallahassee ahead of the 2026-27 season, announcing his commitment to FSU Wednesday.
Yes, Taylor takes a huge jump into the Atlantic Coast Conference where the likes of Duke, North Carolina, Clemson, Miami and other aspiring March Madness teams/national title contenders await.
But it's time to dive into why Taylor is a key portal steal for Loucks and FSU.
Taylor Fresh Off Breakout Season
This is the basketball version of strike while the iron is hot.
Taylor leaves the Bulldogs fresh off delivering a career-best 18.9 points per game. He produced 17 games of surpassing the 20-point mark too.
Taylor even created a streak of seven consecutive 20+ point performances, including lighting up Big South Conference champ High Point for 21 during a New Year's Eve contest.
He's also heading to FSU delivering career-highs in rebounds (5.0), blocks (0.7) and steals (0.8). And this talent was a Sixth Man just one year ago.
FSU Gaining Bouncy Athlete
Taylor presents one of the best vertical jumps on the floor. And he won't hesitate to jump over and around defenders.
He attacks off the bounce even if it means drawing contact for the foul. Taylor plays with aggressive fearlessness. That includes throwing his body inside to clean up the glass on rebounds.
He times his jumps consistently in executing blocks on defense.
Three-Level Scorer
This element helps Loucks and FSU immensely.
Taylor isn't one who settles for just one type of shot. He's an active scorer at all three levels. Again, he doesn't hesitate to attack inside and displays an explosive first step to win his blow bys.
He's cerebral enough to know when to settle for 3-pointers though. His natural spot from long range is the left wing, where he hit 41.9% of his baskets there.
But he should have no issue attacking in a variety of ways for the Noles.
How he Fits FSU
But Taylor rises as the biggest offseason portal move so far. Does that make him the most complete addition?
He'll need to add weight to his 6-foot-7, 185-pound frame. Taylor will take even more contact in the ACC, especially with former Georgia star center Somto Cyril now landing at Miami.
But Loucks could have his newest leading scorer here in Taylor.
