Georgia has always been a pipeline state for Florida State, and the Seminoles are back dipping into the Peach State talent pool.
Three-star athlete Marquis Fennell, one of the more intriguing Swiss-army-knife prospects in the class, is set to be in Tallahassee on March 28 for Legacy Weekend, according to Chris Nee of 247Sports. That’s not just a pop-in visit. It’s another rep in what’s quickly becoming a legit recruitment.
FSU extended the offer in January, got the Valdosta High School recruit on campus for Junior Day, and clearly made enough noise to bring him back. This upcoming trip will mark his second stop in Tallahassee, and he’s already got an official visit scheduled for June.
On the board, Fennell checks in as the nation’s No. 31 athlete in the 247Sports Composite. He’s ranked No. 467 overall and sits at No. 54 in Georgia -- which, let’s be real, is SEC country and stacked every cycle.
Fennell didn’t just have a good junior year. His 2025 season was a stat-stuffer stretch. He averaged 8.2 yards per carry, gashed defenses for 1,480 rushing yards, and punched in 23 touchdowns on the ground. But he didn’t stop there.
Fennell added 764 receiving yards and 10 TD catches. On special teams, he chipped in 261 total yards on kicks and punts.
He’s the definition of a dynamic weapon, think in the mold of Zachariah Branch. While he’s lining up everywhere for the Valdosta Wildcats right now, Georgia reportedly sees him as a receiver/return specialist at the college level, a Branch-style deployment where you scheme him touches and let him cook.
Meanwhile, Florida State isn’t just dabbling in 2026, they’re building the board early for 2027 too. In January alone, the Noles hosted 10 offered running backs and brought in two 2027 QBs they’ve already extended scholarships to: three-stars Wonderful "Champ" Monds and Derrick Baker.
As for Fennell? He's reportedly said Georgia, Florida State, Appalachian State, and Houston are sitting highest on his board right now. FSU threw its hat in the ring on Jan. 20, one of 20-plus offers he’s holding, and Mike Norvell even contacted him directly, according to 247Sports.
Translation? This recruitment is live, and the Seminoles are very much in the mix.
