It was the final regular season game of the 2025 campaign. Against the hated Aggies of Texas A&M, Texas running back Quintrevion Wisner shredded the vaunted Aggie defense for 155 yards on 19 carries as the Longhorns defeated the No. 3 team in the land 27-17.
Wisner and his Texas teammates were left out of the College Football Playoff. The Longhorns settled for a berth in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl vs. Michigan, while Wisner entered the transfer portal. According to 247 Sports, Wisner was the No. 3 running back prospect in the portal.
When the dust settled, Wisner landed on coach Mike Norvell’s door step and the Florida State Seminoles secured a commitment from one of the best prospects in the country.
Wisner missed four games last season but still rushed for 597 yards and three touchdowns. In 2024, Wisner was a 1,000-yard rusher (1,064 yards) and scored five touchdowns. In this off season, Wisner is certainly worthy of way-too-early consideration for the Doak Walker Award, given to the top running back in college football.
During the two-week portal window last month, the Seminoles lost three of their running backs. Gavin Sawchuk leaves Tallahassee after finishing second on the team in rushing with 486 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Also, Florida State lost Kam Davis and Jaylin Lucas to the portal.
Wisner’s arrival helps take the sting out of that mass exodus from the running back room, and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn welcomed him with open arms. Wisner could be the feature back and should thrive in the Malzahn’s run-heavy, RPO scheme.
Despite a 5-7 record last season, the Seminoles led the ACC in rushing offense (No. 11 in the FBS) at 218 yards per game and over 2,600 yards and 31 touchdowns on the ground. Florida State also led the conference in total offense (6th in the FBS) at 472 yards per game.
Unfortunately, Wisner will run behind a completely rebuilt offensive line, as all starters have left the program. The Seminoles welcome offensive line transfers Bradyn Joiner (Purdue), Chimdia Nwaiwu (Stephen F. Austin) and Xavier Chaplin (Auburn) to the program.
Wisner brings talent to the Seminoles backfield and will be counted on in 2026 to keep Malzahn’s offense humming and to vastly improve on FSU’s 7-17 record over the past two seasons.
