The Georgia Bulldogs were not able to land this one.
The Georgia Bulldogs have been trying to pull some big names in the class of 2027 and 2028 to make up for the fact that the past spring and summer were not all that productive on the recruiting trail.
While there have certainly been some waves made to this point, you simply cannot land every prospect, and that is just the name of the game when it comes to talent acquisition. One guy who it looked like a few weeks ago the Dawgs had a great chance of landing though has instead wound up with a hated rival, but it may not have been one many expected.
For a little while, it looked like Grayson High School three-star cornerback Preston Glasco was trending towards the Alabama Crimson Tide, but with the arrival of his decision day, the young shutdown man instead chose the Tennesee Volunteers.
Glasco Commits to Tennessee Over Georgia, Alabama
Glasco, who was originally committed to UConn for a while before becoming a late rising prospect, was clearly intrigued by the possibility of coming to his home state school, but for whatever reason, the Dawgs lost momentum down the stretch and were not able to land him.
Seeing him wind up at Tennessee is a bit of a minor surprise, but the Volunteers came on late and were clearly willing to make an offer beyond what both Alabama and Georgia were willing to go to.
Glasco is having a huge senior season at Grayson and once word was out that the Bulldogs were trying to flip him from UConn, it seemed a full court press from around the SEC began to the point where he re-opened his recruitment.
One way or another, Georgia was going to see Glasco on their field at some point whether he was wearing a Bulldogs uniform or not, and now it's going to be the case with him sporting orange in Rocky Top.
Rated as a top-100 player in the state of Georgia, Glasco was someone who every school wanted by the end here, but clearly the Volunteers wound up being the spot for him. In the coming years, Bulldogs fans will certainly be watching closely to see what kind of impact he can make at the next level.
It would not be a surprise to see him playing early for Tennessee, and at that point, he could be a handful for Georgia to deal with.
