The Georgia Bulldogs are trying to land this interior offensive lineman fresh off a re-opening of his recruitment.
The Georgia Bulldogs hosted the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon in Athens, but the other member of the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry was hardly the only guest in Sanford Stadium this week.
Despite being very much in the thick of the season, recruiting never stops, and that was certainly the case this week with another strong list of visitors coming to get a look at the best game day environment in college football. As it turns out, Georgia is now pushing to land a freshly de-committed prospect who is one of the most sought after players in the nation, and the Dawgs got the first crack at his visiting schedule.
Shortly after de-committing from Miami, elite interior offensive lineman Jatori Williams told Rivals he planned on visiting all of his new final four that included Georgia along with Alabama, Auburn and Florida State.
Williams Visiting Some Great Programs in Addition to Bulldogs
Williams has now become one of the top available overall players for the class of 2027 who is not currently committed to a school, so it makes sense why schools like Auburn and Alabama are going to be pursuing hard as well. He was actually committed to the Crimson Tide before Miami, so this has been a little bit of a roller coaster of a recruitment.
Going into the weekend, the Tigers were actually seen as the favorite to wind up landing Williams, but a visit to Athens can and certainly has in the past changed everything for recruits. Georgia is going to have to stay in touch with Williams throughout the next couple of months, but it does seem they have a real chance to land the Phenix City product over some of their most hated rivals.
What Kind of Skillset Williams Would Bring to Bulldogs
Williams is absolutely massive for a high school player, standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 320 pounds. He will likely have some work to do at the next level especially if he is going to play guard, but he has the kind of frame and blocking ability at this level that cannot be taught.
Rated by 247 as a top-100 player in the country as well as a top-five interior offensive lineman and No. 3 overall player in the state of Alabama, Williams is the kind of prospect who can make a class at the offensive line spot. Look for him to make an announcement sometime over the next month, and perhaps it can be the the Dawgs.
