The Georgia Bulldogs continue to make noise throughout fall camp, and every passing day despite the intense southern heat, we are one day closer to the start of the season in Athens.

Evaluations have continued at all positions over the last couple of weeks, but just 15 days before kickoff, most battles are largely decided at this point. At quarterback, there's no question there as Gunner Stockton prepares for his second full season as a starter and looks to take the next step as one of the best in all of college football.

Last year, Stockton was at his best when his team needed him the most, the kind of trait a coach cannot teach. This offseason, much of the talk has been whether or not he can make the leap and become a legitimate star at the position for the Bulldogs. According to Kirby Smart during a post-practice press conference this week, Stockton has absolutely developed in some very significant ways throughout the last several months.

"Gunner's improved immensely. I don't think it's in one area," Smart said via Harrison Reno of UGA Sports On3. "You can see his growth, kind of in a lot of areas because some of it's leadership, some of it's mentorship, and some of it's just throwing ability and getting the ball downfield. So pleased with. with Gunner's growth and really pleased with his work ethic."

All offseason long, the talk around Stockton is if he can elevate his level of play enough to help carry this offense through the transition of an inexperienced wide receiver group. While who he is throwing to is of course a little bit of a question mark, Stockton has one of the best tight end rooms in the nation and on paper, should have a tremendous offensive line which aids in the running game.

The best thing for any passing game is an effective running game, so Stockton should have everything he needs around him in order to have a great year and run this offense at a very high level.

Regardless, it sounds like he has done all of things asked of him this offseason in order to give Georgia the best chance to win a national title this year. Time will tell if it's enough, but it seems like Stockton could be due for a massive season for the Dawgs.
