The Georgia Bulldogs had a nice weekend on the offensive line.

The Georgia Bulldogs are moving closer and closer to the regular season, putting the finishing touches on their official fall camp before the calendar turns from August to September and games get going.

Over the weekend, the Bulldogs had a highly-anticipated first scrimmage of fall camp with numerous position battles still trying to work themselves out. One of the strengths of the roster though not just in terms of the starters but also seemingly the depth is the offensive line.

According to some intel from Rusty Mansell of UGA Sports On3, it's not only the program veterans who have showed out there so far, but also a true freshman who had an extremely impressive performance in the scrimmage and could factor into the tackle rotation this year.

Earnest Greene, Ekene Ogboko Both Had Very Strong Scrimmages

"Earnest Greene is having his best camp at Georgia, and I’m told he looks completely locked in," Mansell wrote on the veteran left tackle, adding that he is healthy and ready for the season.

The truly exciting development is what Mansell has heard on true freshman tackle Ekene Ogboko, a former four-star recruit who is looking to get on the field early, had a great day as well and is starting to trend at the right time right before the season.

"With that said, true freshman offensive tackle Ekene Ogboko is off to a very fast start and is proving he can help this team right now," Mansell wrote. "He very well could find himself in the offensive tackle rotation."

What Kind of Role Ogboko Could Play This Season for Georgia

The Bulldogs are able to have the benefit for Ogboko that they are not necessarily depending on him to play a big role, but instead, he may be good enough early to command a spot. With that being said, Greene will absolutely be the starting left tackle with Juan Gaston slotted in at right tackle as well.

Five offensive linemen are never enough though, and Ogboko looks like he has earned a spot in the rotation potentially as a swing tackle or as a guy who can move into a starting role if there were to be an injury.

Depth is critical, and offensive line may be the most important spot to have reliable backups. The former four-star has already become that, and if Ogboko keeps getting even better, perhaps he could be even more than just a backup early on this season.
