The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide will hope to play the game without major weather interruptions.

The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into Tuscaloosa this weekend for perhaps the biggest game of the season across the entire sport, and the goal for Kirby Smart and his team is clear.

While Georgia is trying to focus on getting the first regular season victory over Alabama since 2007, the potential for severe weather has loomed over the game all week. A potential tropical storm which could become a hurricane by the time it lands on the Gulf Coast on Friday night would create chaos if Tuscaloosa is in the path, and it remains to be seen exactly what that would look like.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the plan from the University of Alabama and the SEC seems to be to keep things as is, and the latest weather forecast seems to indicate that the game actually has a chance of being dry if the storm continues on the same pace as it's taking now.

Storm Could Pass Through Tuscaloosa by Kickoff Time

While opinions seem to be mixed, the general consensus as of Wednesday early afternoon is that the storm seems to be moving quickly enough that there is a strong chance it's out of the area by the time kickoff arrives, or at least the severe portion of it is already over.

This would bring significant concerns for the activities during the day such as College GameDay and tailgating in Tuscaloosa, however, it does seem like there is a better than yesterday chance the game is able to go off on time and without any major hitches.

Given the possibilities that were being thrown around, this is an absolute best case scenario, and though it would be unfortunate if the game atmosphere was harmed by folks not being able to prepare, the game being played safely as well as cleanly are of course the primary concerns.

Things could still change and folks should stay updated from their local meteorologists, but the chances this game is unmoved and kicks off on time appear to be going up as of Wednesday. If this is indeed how things play out, most would certainly take that even if the day in Tuscaloosa is impacted.

As the game draws closer and closer, it's important to do everything out of an abundance of caution if you are planning on attending and keep a very close eye on things as there is the potential for signifcant change.
