The Georgia Bulldogs are ready to go.
The Georgia Bulldogs are just a day away from starting their 2026 season and fans are more ready than ever to see the team come out of the tunnel and take the field between the hedges.
As is often the case this early in the season, the matchup is not exactly ones fans can sink their teeth into with Tennessee State coming to town and the Dawgs as nearly a 50-point favorite. With that being said, everyone is just excited for a game day in Athens, and that is exactly what they're gonna get despite the absurd heat coming to town.
When it comes to what to expect in this one, the game result is largely decided already, but here's what fans should be watching for and what they can expect in terms of personnel.
Georgia Will Look to Get Numerous Players Involved on Offense
Assuming things get out of hand in the first half, the Bulldogs will try out a whole lot of different stuff in the second half. The starting wide receiver rotation has about as little experience in this system as possible, so perhaps guys may play a little bit deeper into the game than they usually do.
Guys like Sacovie White-Helton should get as many reps as possible, but also, fans want to get a look at Talyn Taylor who had a huge fall camp as well as Kaiden Prothro and CJ Wiley. These are players expected to contribute in a significant way this season, so getting them on the field will be critical.
Even later in the game, look for guys like Craig Dandridge, Ryan Mosley and Dallas Dickerson to potentially get in as well as true freshmen seeing the field for the first time.
Potential Rotation at Center Position for Bulldogs
While Drew Bobo -- one of the best in the nation -- is expected to play, he has been banged up this spring and it would not be a surprise to see him get a light load this week to ease him into the season. Cortez Smith has separated himself as the clear backup center with a huge spring and fall camp, however Malachi Tolliver got the playing experience last year when Bobo was out.
Smith is also going to be one of the first names called upon if a guard goes down, so having both him and Tolliver ready to go when needed feels like something that would be in Georgia's best interest.
Beyond center, true freshman Zykie Helton will get the start at right guard after he separated himself throughout the offseason and will be a player folks are keeping a very close eye on.
Overall, fans should expect a dominating performance from the offensive line against a team they should be able to bully around a little bit.
