Safety Amani Hooker's first half interception helped the Tennessee Titans win their first game of the season.

Iowa football was on a bye week last weekend, which meant Hawkeye fans got to enjoy a weekend of stress-free football.

Saturday's college football slate may have featured the most dramatic games of the entire season, but the fun didn't stop there.

Week 6 of the 2026 NFL season also boasted some highlights for some of your favorite former Hawkeyes, so let's take a look at those top storylines.

Winless no more

Some were declaring the Tennessee Titans a potential candidate to go 0-17 after a dreadful 0-5 start, but Robert Saleh's team silenced those claims with a 26-20 upset victory over AFC South rival Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon.

The Colts scored the game's first 10 points, but it might have been more had safety Amani Hooker not intercepted Indianapolis quarterback Daniel Jones on the Colts' lengthy 13-play, 7:00 drive in the first quarter. Hooker is no stranger to interceptions, having tallied one against the Eagles in Week 2, but this one was even more impressive.

Jones' pass was deflected in the air and right into the arms of Hooker, who was able to maintain control in bounds for the turnover. Not only that, Hooker also recorded a team-high 13 tackles in the victory.

Eagles continue to scuffle

The two-time defending NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles began the season 2-0, but it's been all downhill since. With quarterback Jalen Hurts now out for the season due to blood clots, it appears Philadelphia's playoff streak could come to a close this year.

The Eagles lost their fourth consecutive game on Sunday to the Carolina Panthers, 25-14. Philadelphia's offense struggled without Hurts, but cornerback Cooper DeJean and the defense did enough to keep their team in the game. DeJean posted six tackles (tied for third-best on the team) and one pass break-up in the loss.

The Eagles dropped to 2-4 on the year with the loss.

Jets fall short in Foxborough

The New York Jets are still losing football games in 2026, but it does feel like the team is slowly making some progress under coach Aaron Glenn. The Jets had their chances against their AFC East rival New England Patriots on Sunday, but fell short, 26-19. Safety Dane Belton had a terrific game despite the loss, totaling nine tackles and one pass break-up in the defeat.

New York falls to 2-4 on the season.

Taylor has another magical boot

Caleb Williams is back as the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears, and it's safe to say the team rallied around their young star in Sunday's 31-23 road win at the Atlanta Falcons. Punter Tory Taylor was also phenomenal in the win, tallying 44.8 yards per punt on five attempts. That's a positive number, but Taylor's ability to put backspin on the football resulted in Falcons rookie Zachariah Branch muffing a punt near the end of the first half.

The Bears punched the ball in the end zone a few plays later, and the mistake ultimately was a big reason why Chicago is sitting at 4-2 on the season.

Niners keep rolling

The unquestioned best team in the NFL at this point is the San Francisco 49ers, who held off a late rally by the Washington Commanders to get to 6-0 on Monday night. Tight end George Kittle tallied five catches for 69 yards and a touchdown (his fifth of the season), while offensive lineman Connor Colby powered San Francisco to 264 passing yards and 126 rushing yards.

Washington kicker Drew Stevens knocked in both of his extra points and his lone field goal try - a 51-yarder - in the defeat. The Commanders dropped to 1-4-1 with the loss.
