Welcome back to our countdown to the 2026 Iowa football season!
Since May 28, we've been counting down the final 100 days until the Hawkeyes swarm out of the Kinnick Stadium tunnel for their season opener against Northern Illinois on Sept. 5.
Each day of the countdown has primarily featured an article profiling one of the current members of the 2026 Hawkeyes based on their jersey number, but if the countdown lands on a day where Iowa doesn't issue a uniform number, we'll go the historical route.
Reading this countdown each day is highly recommended to help you pass the time until the season starts, and we're now under the 60-day mark. That means it's time to take a look at No. 59 - offensive lineman Trevor Lauck.
There doesn't need to be much of a introduction with this one, but here it is anyway.

High School: Roncalli High School
Year: Junior
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 310 pounds
Other notable players to wear No. 59: One recognizable name to don No. 59 in recent years is former left guard Ross Reynolds. The Waukee native didn't see regular starting action until his senior season, but earned second-team All-Big Ten honors during the 2018 campaign that saw Iowa record nine victories.
Lauck's career so far
Like many of the star offensive lineman that have preceded him, Lauck didn't arrive in Iowa City with major credentials, but if he stays healthy, he'll probably leave as a NFL draftee.
That's been the blueprint for so many successful lineman under Kirk Ferentz, and Lauck is well on his way to joining some of his teammates in the NFL. The Indianapolis native had to wait his turn for a few seasons, but exploded during his redshirt sophomore campaign in 2025.
Lauck narrowly beat out Jack Dotzler for the open spot at left tackle, and it quickly became evident why. Iowa's offensive line was filled with experience, but Lauck immediately raised eyebrows with his seemingly brisk transition to the starting role, helping the Hawkeyes capture the Joe Moore Award as the nation's best offensive line.
Lauck earned third-team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches last year, but it's safe to say his preseason hype is much greater entering 2026. Phil Steele named Lauck to his preseason second-team All-Big Ten list, and Lauck was also one of six juniors named to Iowa's 2026 Player Council, which recognizes some of the top leaders on the team.
Lauck has two seasons of eligibility left, but if he can build off his stellar 2025 season, then it's likely that he could leave for the NFL. That's a decision that is well in the future though, as Lauck is focused on laying the foundation for the Hawkeyes' next starting quarterback.
