The Illinois native enters his redshirt sophomore campaign.
Welcome back to our countdown to the 2026 Iowa football season!
Since May 28, we've been counting down the final 100 days until the Hawkeyes storm out of the Kinnick Stadium tunnel to "Back in Black" for their season-opener against Northern Illinois on Sept. 5.
Each day primarily features an article profiling every member of the roster based on their respective jersey numbers, and that's exactly what we have today.
Today marks 74 days until kickoff, so that means it's time to take a look at the man who wears No. 74 - offensive lineman Bodey McCaslin.
Get to know him here.
Bio
Hometown: Saint Charles, Illinois
High School: St. Charles East High School
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 299 pounds
Other notable players to wear No. 74: For the first time in this series, a player mentioned in this section is a current player. Offensive lineman Trevor Lauck, one of the rising stars on this offensive line, wore No. 74 during his freshman campaign before switching to his current No. 59 ahead of the 2025 season. Lauck started at left tackle in every game last season and played a key role in helping Iowa capture the Joe Moore Award for the nation's best offensive line.
McCaslin's career so far
Hailing from the Chicagoland area, McCaslin starred on both the offensive and defensive line for St. Charles East, earning two All-DuKane Conference honors and the 2023 offensive lineman of the year.
It didn't take McCaslin, a three-star recruit per 247Sports, very long to start garnering interest from college teams. Ball State was the first to offer in December 2021, and Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa, and others would follow.
The Hawkeyes were the final team to offer McCaslin on March 30, 2023. He announced his intent to be a Hawkeye four days later, joining a 21-member 2024 recruiting class.
McCaslin hasn't seen much playing time in an Iowa uniform just yet, but he's one of the many young faces offensive line coach George Barnett has at his disposal to develop for the future.
