Kansas State Football Adds Three-Star Running Back To 2027 Class

The marathon continues.

Kansas State football has added its 16th commit to the 2027 class, one of the fastest-growing units in the country. Correll Buckhalter Jr., a three-star running back from Liberty Christian High School in Argyle, TX, committed to the program on Sunday afternoon. He also had offers from Arizona, Houston, and TCU, among others. Last season, Buckhalter rushed for 1,276 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding 37 receptions for 382 yards and four touchdowns.

He is the son of former NFL running back Correll Buckhalter, who spent seven seasons in the league after his college tenure at Nebraska. He amassed 2,944 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns, with 144 receptions for 1,410 yards and six touchdowns.

Buckhalter Jr. may be coming into the program at the right moment. The Wildcats took a huge step back in the run game last season, but 2026 may be their rebound with Joe Jackson, Rodney Fields Jr., and Jay Harris sharing the rock in the backfield.
