It's been a while since we've checked in with Kansas State's 2028 football class. The 2027 group has slowly developed as one of the nation's top recruiting units, taking some of the attention away from the next class.
The Wildcats may be getting back into the flow of offers with the latest recruit. Axton Lange, an offensive tackle from Chaparral High School in Temecula, CA, shared his offer on Tuesday. He also had offers from schools like Wisconsin and San Diego State.
Right now, he's unranked, but he'll probably end up being a three-star recruit.
The offensive line was a huge need for the Wildcats after last year. A unit that struggled to get chemistry and failed to create holes for the run game led to arguably the worst start of any Big 12 team. It's been a critical focus in the offseason, as new coach Collin Klein ushered in Mike Schmidt to help revamp the position. John Pastore was a good tackle upfront, but he's entering his senior season, signaling the need for reinforcements after he exits.
The program still has yet to land a 2028 class recruit, but offers like these might draw it closer. Here are a few others in the class that Kansas State has offered:
Kason Williams, Running Back
The Wildcats extended an offer to three-star running back Kason Williams, who currently attends Alexandria High School in Alexandria, LA. Last season, Williams had 187 carries for 1,260 yards and 12 touchdowns, along with 17 receptions for 363 yards and six touchdowns. Among the other schools offering Williams are Syracuse, Houston, and Mississippi State.
Hudson Tomcheck, Quarterback
Three-star quarterback Hudson Tomcheck currently attends Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, TX. Among the other teams offering the quarterback were Arizona, Baylor, and Colorado State. The signal-caller position was one that Kansas State hasn't needed to worry about, given the ease of retaining Johnson every season for the past few years. Now, they won't have that luxury anymore, especially as coach Collin Klein says that no one has truly stood out so far in spring practices.
RJ Cruz III, Defensive Tackle
Three-star defensive tackle RJ Cruz III currently attends McDonogh High School in Owings Mills, MD. Last season, he had 28 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and three sacks. Wildcats coach Collin Klein has lauded the defensive tackle as one of the quickest-growing positions in spring ball. The program is looking for its next star on the inside after losing Malcolm Alcorn-Crowder to SMU.
